Il Barbiere

Lindsey and I went to the opera not long ago and saw The Barber of Seville, and it was by far the highpoint of this year’s opera season.  It was absolutely amazing!  Yes, it’s that good.  And not just according to L and I.  People were shouting Bravo! at the end of the overture before […]

And Dutter and Dutter with hatchets a-flutter!

Today is my birthday, and Lindsey made me a Swedish birthday cake, complete with fresh fruit, homemade whipped cream and cook-it-on-the-stove pudding (yes, pudding in a cake!). It was terrific. Strawberries and blueberries on top, and then strawberries and bananas and pudding in between layers of cakey goodness!

Oyster Gun!

Tommy was putting together a Dora puzzle yesterday when Lindsey asked him who the bird in the picture was, to which he replied: “Oyster Gun!”  At least that’s what we thought he was saying.  Turns out he probably meant Senor Tucan.  Think about it.

DTD!

Lindsey and I have become addicted to the joyful timesink that is Desktop Tower Defense. It’s a simple flash game in which you position different “towers” around a map (that looks like a desktop) and try to prevent swarms of “creeps” from crossing from one side of the map to the other.  Destroying creeps gives you […]

Wiiiiiiiii!

The other day (Valentines Day no less), Lindsey brought home a new Nintendo Wii.  In addition to the bundled Wii Sports, she also got Wii Play, which comes bundled with a second wiimote and includes what Tommy calls The Balloon game, e.g. Target Shooting.  You “shoot” balloons and targets on the screen them with the […]

The ‘DS’ is for Dueling Spouses

Several weeks back I decided to take the plunge and try out the new DS Lite.  I was initially a little apprehsnsive — I never thought much of the original DS.  Sure the screen was brighter than the one on my SP, but it wasn’t that much better, and the games didn’t look very interesting.  […]

Cio-Cio San

We saw Opera Omaha’s Madama Butterfly on Friday night.  It was incredible.  Lindsey pointed out that the male lead looked like Will Ferrell: Which is which?  Well if you can’t tell, I’m not going to.  But the guy on the right was in Elf.

I want my web 2.0

I decided to give a few web-based apps and services a try lately and I am completely and forerver hooked…until I find something I like more.  pandoraLindsey told me about pandora quite a while back.  I’ve found it’s a great avenue for discovering new music you like, in addition to enjoying music with which you […]

Last minute holiday goodness

We’ve had a good holiday break with lots of food and drink and family, and not a lot of anything else. The gallery tells most of the story.  Tommy got a train table (built by his grandpa), among many many other presents.Lindsey got […]

She’s really quite crafty

Lindsey made my iPod a sweater to help it fend off these nasty South Dakota winters:

She also made hats and scarves for Tommy and I, and a laptop case/sleeve for herself.
