So long, Perl

It’s been over five years since we took Perl in off the street, and today we had to have her put down.  She had been very sick and probably was suffering from kidney failure.  Here’s one of the last pictures we took of her a couple weeks ago.Trying to explain this to Tommy was interesting:Me: […]

Il Barbiere

Lindsey and I went to the opera not long ago and saw The Barber of Seville, and it was by far the highpoint of this year’s opera season.  It was absolutely amazing!  Yes, it’s that good.  And not just according to L and I.  People were shouting Bravo! at the end of the overture before […]

And Dutter and Dutter with hatchets a-flutter!

Today is my birthday, and Lindsey made me a Swedish birthday cake, complete with fresh fruit, homemade whipped cream and cook-it-on-the-stove pudding (yes, pudding in a cake!). It was terrific. Strawberries and blueberries on top, and then strawberries and bananas and pudding in between layers of cakey goodness!

Meteorology

It’s -17F outside right now, and I have the window open in my office.(I left the heat on over the weekend…oops)

I forgot my bike lock the other day…

When life gives you zip ties…

Cio-Cio San

We saw Opera Omaha’s Madama Butterfly on Friday night.  It was incredible.  Lindsey pointed out that the male lead looked like Will Ferrell: Which is which?  Well if you can’t tell, I’m not going to.  But the guy on the right was in Elf.

It is done

Well, mostly.  We got all the laminate laid this weekend, with some greatly-appreciated help from our neighbor Kevin of dome house fame.  I still need to cut a hole for a vent, and super-glue a couple chips, and a few other tasks, but the majority of the knee-busting work is done.  Check it out:more pics […]

I am mostly harmless
