Lindsey and I went to the opera not long ago and saw The Barber of Seville, and it was by far the highpoint of this year’s opera season.  It was absolutely amazing!  Yes, it’s that good.  And not just according to L and I.  People were shouting Bravo! at the end of the overture before anyone had sung a note and even during the Entr’acte.  We’ve been to performances that didn’t get a single shout or standing ovation even during the curtain call. 

My first exposure to this opera was (like many people I’m sure) through Bug’s Bunny.

And then Seinfeld:

After seeing the real thing, I have to say that it is as funny and as entertaining as the parodies.  And the music is much better.
