A Bubble Tea Virgin no more!
We discovered a new Asian restaurant in, of all places, a mall food court today. This place looked like the real deal — as in not a national chain. As it turned out, the food wasn’t a whole lot different from what you might find at El China Pantry, but they did have one thing I have never seen around here — bubble tea. This kind was almond flavored and looked like iced milk with marbles in the bottom of the cup.
What struck me most was the massive straw they give you. It allows you to suck up the “bubbles” with the rest of the drink. It actually tasted pretty good, but very very very sweet. It reminded of the time I tried sweet tea. I also liked the cartoon snowman on the lid:

Here’s what Wikipedia has to say about Bubble Tea:
Check out Wikipedia’s picture here.“Bubble Tea” is a tea beverage of recent Taiwan origin. The term “Bubble” refers to the tapioca balls in the drink. These chewy tapioca balls, or “pearls,” are consumed along with the beverage through a wide straw.
