Make’s video podcast now does the 3g shuffle
I was paging through the latest Make Magazine podcast offerings and noticed that they’re offering their Weekend Project videos in 3g format for viewing on mobile phones. Certain that it would never work (I have messed with transcoding to 3g formats for my phone before with discouraging results), I downloaded the file and bluetoothed it over to my phone only to have it play…without sound. Not to be thwarted so easily, I fired up QuickTime Pro and transcoded Make’s 3gp file to a 3g2 file, which is the format my phone uses to record its own video. I transferred the new file to my phone and later that evening was able to hear Bre’s geeky voice describe to Lindsey, Tommy and I how to make a pinhole camera while we were driving home from the park.

Hey, will you take a screenshot of the 3g2 settings in qt pro? I’ll release a version for you!
