Stomach flu and terrorists
So Tommy and I are under house arrest this weekend with stomach flu. I’ll spare the gory (smelly?) details. A steady diet of toast and ginger ale has left plenty of time to play Fable and read the soldering howto in Make magazine. Yes. I’m at home alone and I’m reading soldering howtos and playing xbox.
I caught some of a Back To The Future marathon yesterday and I noticed something weird. In the first movie, when Marty is writing the letter to Doc (Doc of the future that is) telling him how he dies he says something like “On the day I go back, you will be shot.” I have seen this movie about a hundred times, and I thought the letter had said “…you will be shot by terrorists.” If that is true, then they changed both Marty’s voiceover and the handwriting on the letter. It turns out it is true, because later in the movie when Marty returns to 1985 and Doc shows him the letter that he kept around for 30 years telling him of his ultimate demise, you can see the words “by terrorists” on that letter. I’m not going to go into a big socio-political debate over why the edit was made or whether it should have been made. I just thought it was interesting that they forgot the above-mentioned scene.
