What fun is it without games?
It’s been a week of Halo 2, Fable, Half Life 2, Doom 3, and Evil Genius. Lets take them in reverse:
Yeah, I know. No one has heard of Evil Genius. So go check it out. Lindsey even likes it, though it’s no Kingdon of Loathing.
Doom 3 is, of course, as everyone has mentioned by now very very dark. I still like it. I can play for about 20 minutes at a time before it crashes, so it sort of budgets my time for me.
I’ll talk about HL2 later.
Fable is great, and not just because of the immediate exposure to farting and playing with sticks. Even without all that I think this game can stand on its own. The music is almost entirely like that from Ultima IX: Ascension except it has the benefit of not being in a game that sucks.
And that leaves Halo 2. I know this is supposed to be the most revered games in the history of the xbox, but it just seems like the same old game with bigger, slower textures. (Granted the levels are actually different from each other in this one.) I know the needler doesn’t suck anymore and you can even hold two of them at the same time, but that’s not enough. Multiplayer is good though, so it’s got that going for it. Which is nice.
